Im sure its been covered but both servers have been lagging very badly as of late. And neither server has been reset in a while. If you could first of all, reset it asap, and second, reset the servers ever few hours to keep lag down. thanks! |

Every few hours?? What?? Man, that was one of the problems in the beginning, it crashing every few hours. Everybody hated it, and now you want it to be reinstated??
And, if you hadnt noticed, the servers do get reset every week.
Oh, and there has been another topic about this too.
So look around before posting. _________________

Also have to keep in mind the new virus making it's way through the internet. This seems to cause clogs in the internet "pipes" and is causing quite a bit of lag as a whole to the internet. I'm looking into rebooting the systems on Monday's and Friday's at 17:00 GMT, but want to check on some things before I write it in stone. |

i didnt mean 2-3 hours but more like every few days. lag seems to build up between resets and sometimes it gets really bad and crashes the server neways. giving you a whole new problem. |

Ehhmmm, we throw away every SQL database system from Micro$oft we have, or patch them. But it shouldn't matter for the server itself, since it's Linux and the only thing installed, at least according to Gorbguy, are a browser and the server program(right??) _________________

Yup, that's correct. The servers are only running the bare minimum on Linux. However, it (the SQL worm) still causes "backups" on the internet, which affects the Dysotopia servers. It's kinda like the Code Red virus. Couldn't tell you how many entries are in the web server logs, even today, from that little bugger. Until people get a clue about viruses and the need to patch systems, things like this will always exist. |

The sad part of the worm is that it only effects SQL server sp1 and lower...and sp2 has been out forever and not installed on very many servers. KEEP YOUR CRAP UPDATED YOU CHEAP CORPORATIONS! I guess Microsoft had a large number of servers that hot hit with it cause they didn't even patch their own servers running their own software. What a joke.
Anyway, it's similiar to code red...it uses a large amount of internet bandwidth which slows things down for everyone.
I wish those dang 14year old kids would quit writing these things. _________________ Geshtal, Original Founder
