Ok, I can't find the answer to this anywhere so I thought I would question the people of Dyso. The jist of the question is "does spell resistance stack". Here is an example:

Let's say I buy the ring of the wood elves which does a +16 to SR. Then, since I am a level 17 cleric, when I cast Spell Resistance upon myself that will in theory rais my SR by 12 + 1 per caster level (ie 29 more). Would this mean my SR is 45??

Please no guesses on this one

I can guess all day wrong, but unless I've tried it or know someone who has, I don't REALLY know, that is why I'm posting. The two opinions I have received thus far are 1) yes it will give you a SR of 45 or 2) no, it will just take the highest number (in this case 29). Please help

I looked this up in the players handbook. SR does not stack.

Thank you for the information....I was afraid you were going to say that. Darn! Anyway, thanks again.

Note: Has anyone actually tried something like this? I don't doubt that Aronthal is correct, especially with the source he cited, but curious if anyone has tried it.

lol, no it doesn't stack. I'm very very positive. In fact, there was a bug with monks some time ago (maybe still is?) that made them able to stack SR. But of course it was banned...

So, 32 SR is max...(right?) if you caught anyone with higher than that...it's an exploit in progress.

HAH! It was banned? What, you mean if I get one of those rings and equip my 20th level Monk with it thus giving me a SR of 46 and a DM finds out then I get in trouble?

Yeah, I guess it *is* banned if you consider how easy it is to get to 20!

Or does this work with any Monk 12th level or higher and any item with SR?

but its not just rings, several times in the past when i had a cleric and i helped people out with bosses ect, i had a level 18 monk one time with me and was helping him get a gloth stone, i went ahead buffed him upm neg prot ect stuff, and then i got to spell resist, since i was full level 20 cleric it gave -ME- 32 sr, but the level 18 monk had like a 27 sr or so, when i casted him on it, it stacked, it was a bug, but he had a 65 sr or so, i was tripping, i watched him take on the renders, solo, without even flinching or getting damage......
