| If anyone out there knows what these two are and how well they "play" together, please drop me a PM. I'm trying to monitor some Oracle packets, and am not having the best of luck. |

| They should play fine... ethernet frames are just frames. Are you trying to sniff from a switchport? |

Yup. Managed switches as well, and no VLAN's. I can't seem to sniff the application servers to the databases. Could this be a locked out pipe between the two sets of systems? I can see the users coming into the apps, as well as people grabbing things directly from the database servers, but notta between them. I've even tried specifying the ports the apps use to the db as well as a general range. Nottta. Big time bummer.
Speaking of Oracle. Are there any DBA's or Developer/System Analysers out there, with a couple of years experiance with 8i-9i and 11i, looking for work? My company is looking from both postions and isn't having any luck in finding anyone. We're located in the Grand Rapids area of Michigan. Drop me a PM if you are. |

| Gorb... you're only seeing broadcast traffic and some select admin frames on your switchport... but not the end to end traffic. It sounds like you're just seeing the TCP handshake on the admin port. Try plugging the Oracle and the sniffer into a hub and the hub into the switch and you should get all the frames. |
